Over the years, there's been one recurring question that so many people seem to ask, which is centered around their "Quest for Happiness." So, I decided to offer a few tips here, and hope that some of them will resonate with you. If you want to ask me a question that's not part of my tips, I will try and add further tips from time to time. Feel free to just email me.

Quest for Happiness

One of the most common questions asked is: “How do I improve my spiritual connection, become happier and enjoy my life more?”

Here are a few things that work for me and when applied consistently, will work for you.
  • Meditate – there are no shortcuts on this one
  • Spend time with Spirit everyday – start with 10 minutes every day
  • Relax, watch your breathing, connect with your higher self in a way that is comfortable to you
  • Find a way to get into the moment
  • Observe your thoughts – this is a big one
  • Become aware of your thoughts, especially the ones that limit your potential

  • Listen to how you think about yourself and other people
  • Develop new thoughts that are loving and supportive to yourself and others, but try and get rid of the ones that are not
  • Look how far you have come rather than how far you have to go
  • Make a list of places you’d like to visit
  • Do things that bring you joy
  • If you have forgot what brings you joy ... make it your mission to find your joy, and find ways to bring more joy into your life
  • Count blessings instead of regrets

Practice giving and receiving:

Many of us would bring more happiness to our lives by learning how to "receive" as much as we "give".

Tips to improve:

  • Stop and ask yourself: "How open am I to receive love and support from others?"
  • If improvement is needed, identify and overcome the fears of being indebted, vulnerable, not meeting up to the "givers" expectations that you have within your thoughts.
  • Think about how wonderful you feel when you can do something nice for someone.
  • Recognize when people and the universe are attempting to "send or give to you."
  • If you don't know what to say, Smile and just say "Thank you!"
  • Ask for help when you need it, both in prayer and to people that love and support you.
  • Allowing others to freely give to you is as much as a blessing to them as you.
  • Say to yourself out loud: "I am open to receive the miracles in life." It confirms the belief that miracles are available to you. It also tells the Universe I am looking out for the blessings being sent your way.
  • Practice giving freely without expectation of return or recognition.
  • Express love, praise and recognition to yourself and others both in words and in actions.

The practice of "Contentment" is an area of growth for most people, including me. We are in a society that frequently sends mixed signals and messages. It is hard to master contentment unless we become aware of the messages that are in our culture today. Messages like: more is better, thinner is beautiful, never settle, reach the top, if only I.., etc. These negative messages all carry the same meaning, we are not enough unless we (you fill in the blank)

In this spiritual journey, we can enhance our happiness and joy by being content with "what is", by knowing that our destiny will unfold as it was meant to, by trusting that the Universe will support us in all endeavors is our intention.

Strive to become aware of the messages/thoughts within yourself and how they drive you away from being content today. Decide NOW to make changes in your beliefs that better support your growth. You do not need anyone's permission (except your own)!

Thoughts to consider:
  • When have you been content in your life?
  • What does contentment feel like to you?
  • What fears of money, accomplishments, having enough, or being enough keep you from enjoying what you have today?
  • How could being content bring more joy and peace in your life?
  • What changes can you make in your thinking or in your physical life to help you feel content?

I have found that when I practice contentment, I slow down, enjoy my family and friends more, and my fears of lack of security both material and emotional subside.

Your journey starts right here, with one of my favorite affirmations:
I am content with all that shows up today, knowing that all is brought for my highest good.
